How to wear Winter shades of Grey with style

Staying stylish in the cold weather can sometimes feel like an uphill battle, right?! What to wear? AND even more importantly what to wear with WHAT?

There are a lot of them

Maybe a dozen or two. Maybe even 50. All the varieties of Grey dominating stores right now, from charcoal to slate, ash, and a light shade called gainsboro, make it easy to pair the different shades in unexpected combinations.

Luckily, grey works really well with almost every skin tone and complexion – fair, cool tones, olive or dark-skinned, fear not gents, you can all wear grey without looking washed out.

Rock the look

The trick to this look is to combine different shades of Grey and mixing up your tones the right way – the more contrast, the better. It’s a moody alternative to business wear as usual and an easy way to set yourself apart.

Smartguy Gysie is wearing a smoky grey jogger paired with a dark charcoal grey knit and ash grey sneakers. All grey, but with lots of contrast.

It’s all in the detail

The key word here is texture. You can combine a grey jacket or a grey overcoat, with grey chinos or jeans and a grey jumper or shirt underneath. Just remember to vary the shade within the grey on grey outfit.

Opting for different fabrics and textures will allow the different pieces of the outfit to differentiate from each other providing a suave contrast that takes minimal effort.

Mix knit wear with formal suit pants. Style athleisure pieces with denim or add a stylish wool blazer. Note ribbing hem detail on jogger pants (so HOT right now!) or beautiful button detail on knits and shirts.

Gray is the color that just never seems to go out of style.
