Greenery – nature’s neutral.
Every year the world’s authority on color, Pantone, announce the Colour of the Year. Often an indication of what’s to come in everything from fashion to tech and home ware, 2017’s colour of the year, Greenery, reflects the ongoing and highly popular “go-green” movement – think healthy eating, environmental awareness and reconnecting with nature.
Greenery was seen everywhere on the 2017 runways with designers from Gucci, Balenciaga, Pucci, Sies Marjan, Michael Kors, Kenzo and Zac Posen all creating clothes in what Pantone calls “nature’s neutral.”
“There’s a Japanese concept called ‘forest bathing,’ which says that when you are feeling stressed, one of the best things to do is go walk in the forest,” says Leatrice Wiseman, executive director of the Pantone Colour Institute. “But if you can’t do that, what can you do? Bring green into your environment. Put in on your body, or in your house or near your desk. The symbolic message is very important.”
So if you haven’t already, it’s time to get on board with green. While adding a piece here and there in the colour is a great start, the most on-trend way to wear green this season is to go for varying army-inspired shades, all worn at the same time –> as fashion-forward Zayn Malik does so well.
Styling Greenery for the office
From a light forest to the darkest of emeralds, shades of green is certainly a bold choice, sure, but it’s easy to work into your office wardrobe, whether in the form of a cool accessory to a trendy jacket.
When styling your Greenery look for the office let nature’s palette lead you. Stick to leafy shades of green and pair the look with basic neutrals such as white, black, grey, light and dark nudes.
When going for an Athleisure inspired look DO pair your Greenery collared Tee with sporty sneakers and funky jogger pants with ribbing detail.
TOP TIP: Smartguys wear collared shirts. Whether it’s a golfer or a long sleeved shirt, a collar is the easiest way to elevate your office look to smart, stylish and professional.
