After a couple of false starts, Spring has finally got under way in Sunny SA
This new season brings with it countless other promises, amongst others that of longer days, sunshine and balmy evenings. The air feels different, the overall mood is lighter, birds are chirping, and people all over are smiling. The dark days are over and everyone seems to have a spring in their step.
I always think of Spring as the prequel to Summer
The tester round for the festive season, friends come out of hibernation, all ready for a braai, sun downers and late night parties. My mind goes straight to a feel good Spring Playlist, filled with songs that resemble my upbeat mood, and like clockwork the right songs seem to appear at just the right time.
Ironically most of my Spotify Spring Playlist consists of collaborations by some rather cool DJ’s and Artists, the song names are even strangely appropriate for Springtime fun!
*Here are a few of my favourite feel good tunes, but I’ll share the link to my whole playlist at the end of this Blog for those of you savvy enough to have Spotify.
Magpie’s Feel Good Spring Playlist
- Promises – Sam Smith feat Calvin Harris
- Like I love you – Lost Frequencies feat The NGHBRS
- Born to be yours – Kygo feat Imagine Dragons
- Drive – David Guetta feat Black Coffee
- Dancing in the Moonlight – Jubel feat NEIMY
- Solo – Clean Bandit feat Demi Lovato
My feel Good Album for Spring is 7 by David Guetta.
Four years after his last Album release he has finally released an EP of Collaborations, true to his style, Mr Guetta (pronounced Geta) has brought together a powerhouse of artists to join him on 7.
This collection of singles features the likes of Pitbul, Anne-Marie, Nicki Minaj, Jason Derulo, Black Coffee, Sia, Steve Aoki, Jess Glynne, Justin Bieber, J Bavin and a few others.
This could very well be the go to Album for the season and for your summer Drive to the sea.
Speaking of feeling good,
Local oke Jeremy Loops also takes us to the beach in his new video for the song Gold. I just love Loop’s style, and the heart-warming feeling this video gives me.
If you’ve read a few of my earlier #HelloSmartBlog posts,
You’ll know that I have soft spot for local artists (but not all), of late the guys from Sunset Sweatshop have been popping up on my radar. I first heard their breakout single Move It when someone requested it a wedding earlier in the year.
This group of Cape Town guys have a true South African vibe about them, and they’ve released an album of feel good tunes called Chasing Gold.
Do yourself a favour, if you are looking for some tunes to play on braai day, give them a listen.
As promised, here is the link to my Magpie Spring 2018 playlist on Spotify:
I might add a few tunes as the season progresses, and if you feel I’ve missed something, please leave a comment on the blog link on Facebook with #Magpie or on Instagram by tagging me @magpie_dj.
That’s all from me for now, go off take a drive, chase the sunset or go dance in the moonlight, but most of all, have a fabulous spring!
