Jack and Jill Food co. on Facebook
One of the Smart Team’s absolute favourite local hang-outs have moved! The fresh funky and all-round YUM deliciousness that is Jack and Jill Food co. can now be found at their NEW swanky address at the Loch Logan Waterfront in Bloemfontein.
The charming Jill Nowers is the culinary delight behind Jack and Jill Food co. – Jill’s food philosophy is somewhat simple. The better quality the ingredient, the more delicious the end result. That’s why she believes in preparing delicious, fresh, tasty meals using only the best local and artisan produce she can find.
Happiness in local ingredients for this lil’ cafe starts with their hand shaped bread baked in a wood fired pizza oven, continental style thick creamy artisanal yogurt, small batch lightly smoked bacon, grain fed eggs, golden honey from busy bees, organic pecan’s that we are nuts about and olive oil that is produced in Ladybrand. Yes, local is lekker!
Famous for their enchanting cake table and divine espresso blend (sourced by Stereo Café) a visit to the NEW Jack and Jill Food co. is not to be missed. Not only is the food fresh and absolutely delicious but the vibe is, as always, uber-cool.
Food
Jack and Jill’s oven-roasted tomato soup (on their seasonal menu), is one of those comfort dishes that just always hits the spot. Served with an oven-roasted cheese and Dijon mustard toastie, we can’t think of a better weekday lunch – apart from one of their salads, of course.
All the salads include seasonal crunchy bits such as green pepper, celery, spring onion and the very special homemade garlic balsamic on the side. We recommend the famous Kitchen Sink salad.
We also love the spicy chicken livers served in an artisan bun with garlic yoghurt but could have one of their café-style breakfasts any time of the day too (it is indeed served all day). Or try the Buddy Boy: a hot, buttered ciabatta topped with home-made garlic mayo, oven roasted tomato, crispy bacon, a fried egg, cheese and basil pesto.
You also cannot leave without having some (or at least taking some home) of Jill’s famous cupcakes.
Drinks
Jack and Jill make some of the best coffee in town and serve juices, cold drinks, BOS iced teas and oh so tasty hot chocolate with a dollop of chocolate cream…Mmmmm!
Atmosphere
Upbeat, colourful, funky café style vibe
We recommend
Enjoy a café latte with a delicious cake table delight… our current fav? The dreamy custard cruffin (croissant-muffin hybrid).
