Situated in the leafy suburb Westdene in Bloem is the delightful Bella Casa Trattoria. A trendy hub of friendly, efficient service and fabulous flavoursome food. The saucy handmade pastas are marvelous and the wood-fired thin-based pizzas an absolute must.

Rated by Eat Out: SA’s best guide to SA’s best food, as one of the 500 hottest restaurants in SA for an impressive 4 years running, it’s no wonder Bella Casa is such a firm favourite amongst the local crowd, scooping the BEST of BLOEM Italian restaurant award multiple times.

Even though the menu includes its fair share of scrumptious carbs, it also caters for patrons pretty serious about their meat consumption. The infamous Black Beast – succulent fillet sautéed in lemon butter and black pepper and flambéed in brandy is simply put utterly delicious. Not to mention the delectable chicken curry or fabulously fresh fish and chips.

Food

Chef Gareth Daubney and his wife Nicola is the dynamic husband-and-wife-team behind the jam-packed flavour of Bella Casa.

Using only the very best quality ingredients, the menu reflects a casual approach and family-orientated atmosphere, with dishes ranging from gourmet pizzas served on extra-thin bases to pasta, meat dishes, curry and a handful of delightful desserts.

We LOVE the pizza and the Amaretto bread-and-butter pudding remains a hit.

Drinks

Fully licensed, Bella Casa offers an excellent wine list.

The variety of red and white wines complement the menu very well and as an added bonus, a fitting wine is recommended alongside each delectable dish on the menu.

Also on offer, Craft beers from the Bloemfontein-based Stellar Brewery and don’t miss out on a Bella Margarita.

Atmosphere

Upbeat, colourful, trattoria vibe.

The décor is enhanced is by funky wall embellishments, warm colours and eclectic furnishings and the lovely outside courtyard is perfect for long leisurely lunches.

Friendly and personable (and with personality), the staff allow you to be quite laid-back as they look after your every whim.
